Understanding Your Bill

Why Numbers May Differ

The costs shown in Scamallteoir may differ slightly from your AWS bill. Here's why:

Cost Explorer vs Invoice

We use the AWS Cost Explorer API, which shows "blended" or "amortized" costs. Your invoice may include additional items like taxes, support charges, or marketplace purchases.

Credits and Discounts

Reserved Instance discounts and credits are applied differently in Cost Explorer than on your final bill.

Timing

Cost data can take 24-48 hours to appear in Cost Explorer. End-of-month charges may be adjusted after the fact.

Refunds

Refunds and adjustments may appear as negative values in Cost Explorer but are processed differently on invoices.

Which Cost Metric Do We Use?

By default, we show Amortized Cost, which spreads Reserved Instance and Savings Plan payments across the usage period. This gives the most accurate day-to-day view of your actual resource consumption.
