How Scamallteoir Works

Data Collection

Scamallteoir pulls your AWS cost data once daily using the AWS Cost Explorer API. We use read-only access to ensure your account security.

What "Yesterday" Means

AWS cost data is typically available 24-48 hours after the charges occur. When we say "yesterday's costs," we're showing the most recent complete day of data available from AWS.

Baseline Calculation

We calculate your baseline by averaging your costs over your configured lookback period (default: 14 days). This helps identify what's "normal" for your account.

Anomaly Detection

An anomaly is triggered when your daily spend exceeds the baseline by your configured threshold (default: 20%). For example, if your 14-day average is $100/day and today's spend is $125, that's a 25% increase and would trigger an alert.

Data Freshness

Cost data is pulled at your configured digest time each day. The dashboard shows the timestamp of the last successful data pull.
